When directly pressed about his false statements regarding his relationship with Epstein and his financial ties beyond Adfin, Lutnick has repeatedly dodged questions and refused to provide answers. The Oversight Committee, chaired by James Comer, has been criticized for facilitating this private, closed-door approach for powerful men while hypocritically claiming to support the dignity of the survivors.True accountability requires a different approach than forcing victims to endure re-traumatizing public testimonies. Instead, an independent special counsel should be appointed to investigate the vast network of predators involved. This counsel must be led by a respected former federal judge, operating entirely independently of the Department of Justice and the FBI, and utilizing their own hand-picked investigators. Crucially, this independent body must possess subpoena power to obtain withheld documents, rather than relying solely on the millions of pages of files selectively released by the administration.
