The establishment in the SC House is getting the heat & pushback

What's up, So, you know, I was really intrigued by one of the uh one of the callers before saying, you know, the way to the governor chip is pledged to open up offshore and, you know, that's all great. Yeah. 00:30 And I really like some of the things Ralph Norman has said, what he's going to do. And my question is how? And frankly speaking, what I want to hear as a pledge from uh a candidate for governor is that they will declare that they will sign no legislation until the open primary system is eliminated. Because until we do that, we've got this 00:59 chicken and egg thing. Yeah. Oh gee, if we get out there and vote, we'll put better people in and we'll close the primaries or gee, we can't close the primaries because we got crap people in legislature. Somebody needs to force it by shock. And I don't know if this will work or not, but it's what I want to hear. Here's the thing though. I mean, even our governor right now, Henry McMaster, he's not for opening the primaries. I mean, for closing the primaries, he's for them open. 01:28 And he has said that he will veto any bill that comes to his desk to close the primaries. Isn't that interesting? is why we need a governor who says he will veto any bill, any and all bills, until the legislature closes the primaries. We've got to force action. You know, Doug, I'm not opposed to that. I appreciate it. But here, and you got to go back to what he opened up his comments with about the whole chicken and the egg thing. 01:58 You've got, and I told you yesterday, that the people that are really getting the primary heat right now, and we've just had the filing just, I mean, it just started, it's about to end, but filing didn't start, just started a few weeks ago. 02:18 The establishment is the one that's really getting the heat. The people in there with the Freedom Caucus, the folks that want to close the primaries, the people that want good conservative legislation, they're not really getting a whole lot of pushback. They're not getting a whole lot of people standing up against them. It's the establishment. 02:41 that is getting all the pushback. Now here's the deal. This is where you come in and you have got to get out and vote on June 9th because that is what 11 weeks, I believe 11 weeks from today. We're be going to the polls and we're gonna be voting to see who the candidates are. And I would think about 95 % of these races, the candidate that wins the primary goes on to win in the general election. With very few exceptions, that happened. 03:11 So you getting out and voting is going to be the number one thing you can do. First of all, make sure that our state legislature is more conservative than it is. And number two, it will make sure that our governor is the most conservative governor that we can actually get. Then we might see some things changing here in this state. But as we stand right now, the weird part is 03:38 is because way back in the day when the Democrats ruled this state, they were so afraid that a black person 03:47 might win the governor's seat that they made sure that the governor's office had very little power. That's why our state legislature is actually more powerful than the governor here in South Carolina, one of a handful of states that is like that. I wouldn't mind seeing that to be a little more balanced. I wouldn't mind seeing the governor having a little more responsibility than he does here in South Carolina and a little more authority. 04:17 That to me would be possibly a good thing.
