Showplace was huge, room mics for both halves of the recording. The band members arranged this, and contributed ideas and linked them all. The Eternal Death Cry Lonely Aetherium, free in the sea, Listening for cries of your kind Taken by slaughterers no more remain, Watch as they circle - you can't understand On, on they run, in the life of a machine Rising on pillars of steel Blood churns the salt water crystal in their veins Wandering death on the sea You've sailed with the Eskimo, run with the seal, Followed the ice from the pole Gazed at the Midnight Sun, spawned in the south, The cold Arctic summer, the iron they hurl, On, on they run, in the life of a machine, Rising on pillars of steel, Hopeless the cause, life is closing on the prey, Hearts numbed by spray guide the wheel. We once were the mighty, the rules of vast crystal caves The chambers are empty now, no voices call but the waves There is silence, silence, in the halls of the King Where a hundred thousand voices strong once gathered to sing Was it winter? Was it death in disguise? In the morning only sorrow and the murderers' cries Can you hear me? Do you know me? When I've been long away Will the children still remember what I say? The ocean was living then, now daylight finds me alone My kind gone, they've taken all, I cant even honor their bones Only silence, silence, lives with me in the deep I am hiding, I am waiting In the castle's last keep Was it winter? Was it death in disguise? What made them spill our childrens' blood each day at sunrise? Can you hear me all you killers? listen to what I say: You and I will die together the last day I have no memory, lost are the songs we had known No one can sing them now, the last seeds have long since been sown Only silence, silence, greets the light of the moon Let the welcome dark surround me, oh let night find me soon Was it Winter? Was it death in disguise? When the cold fire of the sunset masked the blood in their eyes Can you see me? Do you know me? Can you hear anything? When I'm long gone will the children still remember how to sing No songs will echo the sea gypsy's cry, The moon will remember her own Sargasso will claim them, in seafarers' graves, with silence a burden too painful to bear So bravely Aetherium, answer the call, Listen! Theyre coming for you The seas die around you, the ancestral tides Surrender in silence. The wind prophesies: On they will run while their death cry shakes the world, toppling columns of stone Born to the purpose, rejecting it they die, Creation at last stands alone.
