The Exhausted Doubter
from Love Chapel Hill · host Joel Philbrook
Is it OK to Doubt God --- 1 Kings 19:1-15 There are moments when we do everything right, show up, serve faithfully, pray, worship, and pour ourselves out, and yet something feels off. The Exhaustion creeps in quietly, and suddenly the things that once felt natural now feel heavy. Like Elijah, we can move from spiritual victory to spiritual collapse without ever choosing it. Doubt doesn't always come from rebellion; sometimes it comes simply from being worn thin. And in those moments, God does not scold, shame, or withdraw. He meets us gently, in rest, in nourishment, in quietness, long before He ever speaks instruction. Consider that God's presence is often found not in the earthquake, wind, or fire, but in the whisper. The whispher requires closeness. It invites us to stop striving long enough to hear Him again. Your exhaustion does not disqualify you. Your doubt deos not distance you. God meets you where you are, but His love never leaves you there. He restores, reorients, and reminds you of what is still true: you are not alone, the mission is not dead, and He is nearer than you think.
