My guest today is my friend, Joel Edgerton, the COO of BitFlyer USA. BitFlyer is a Bitcoin exchange and marketplace that enables its customers to buy, sell, and spend bitcoins. The site offers an Application Programming Interface which allows their clients to access and control their accounts, using custom-written software. In addition, it offers businesses e-commerce payment services that can transfer Bitcoin inorder to provide users with secure trading by all possible measures of security as a comprehensive platform of Bitcoin. Prior to joining bitFlyer, Joel spent his career in traditional finance, most recently he worked for BNP Paribas Cardif as their COO, where he was leading the charge to pivot the company to a digital insurance company. He built a closed-loop customer experience program, supported by data-oriented system architecture, and data-driven process optimization. In our conversation, we discuss the differences in regulation between the west and Japan, the general sentiment towards crypto by the Japanese people, and how crypto is being implemented within Japanese society.
