The Fake Texts: The Murder and Vanishing of 19-Year-Old Jenny Nickel

from DEADLY TRUTHS · host SS Podcast

On a June evening in 2005, 19-year-old rock musician Jenny Nickel packed a camping bag, kissed her mother goodbye on Bolton Avenue, and vanished into the North Yorkshire countryside without a trace. Weeks later, strange text messages began arriving on her father's and friends' phones claiming she had moved to Scotland with a new boyfriend—messages that police soon realized were cold, calculated fakes designed to stall an investigation. Step inside this harrowing true crime case as ground-breaking forensic linguistics, car rental mileage tracking, and woodland DNA breakthroughs exposed a married 47-year-old neighbor, David Hodgson, leading to a historic conviction without a body and paving the way for Helen's Law.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/deadly-truths--6551875/support.
