The Father's Loving Discipline - Audio

from Chiangmai Christian Fellowship · host Tim Dunham

If God really loves us, then why does He allow us to suffer and experience so much pain and trouble? If He was truly a loving, caring, and all-powerful God, wouldn't He protect us and take better care of us? It is exactly because God loves us that we face trials and suffering. As a loving Father, He disciplines us by means of pain, suffering, and the difficult things that come into our life. Just as earthly parents discipline out of love and a desire to see their child grow to be all they can be, even more so, God desires the very best for us and He only allows what will help us grow. His discipline is in fact a proof of His love and of our relationship with Him as His dearly loved child. The goal of His discipline is that we would be able to participate in His holiness, and enjoy the fruit of joy, peace, and righteousness. We should, therefore, look not at the short-term sorrow that suffering may bring, but focus on the eternal benefits that this present suffering will produce in us.
