The Fear of the Lord Pt.3

In this Church on the Move Roswell message, Pastor Troy Smothermon teaches from Philippians 2:12–13 that believers don’t work for salvation but work out what God has given through grace, cooperating with the Holy Spirit who provides desire and strength without forcing obedience. Pastor Troy explains that fearing the Lord means taking God seriously, trusting Jesus as the only way, and living with eternity in view, including the reality of heaven, hell, and judgment. Using illustrations of sculpting, everyday selfishness, and the building of the Brooklyn Bridge, he urges Christians to let God “chisel away” what doesn’t belong so they shine brighter in a darker world. He outlines results of the fear of the Lord—knowing who God is, humility, and joyful obedience—and ends with a call to surrender to Jesus in prayer for first-time or returning commitment.
