The Fellowship of the King (Acts 2:41-47)
from Reality Church Vancouver // Spirit+Truth ~ Community+Compassion ~ Renewal+Rest ~ realityvancouver.com · host Kris Martens
Date: April 10 2011 Preacher: Kris Martens Title:The Fellowship of the King A brush of idealism paints the early church in Acts 2 as a wonderfully warm, faithfully loving, radically generous, conflict-free community free from pride, sin & interpersonal friction. Considering most of the New Testament letters to follow are dedicated to exposing the folly of the early church, the picture from Acts 2 didn't last long. And no wonder - how would we handle 3000 new believers overnight? Who'd do the cooking? Who'd do the teaching? Who'd clean up the mess? Who'd do the laundry? Who's deal with the kids? Who's deal with the tambourine lady. or the guy with the handbells? The early church was a beautiful mess - filed with the Spirit -trained by the best - but a redemptive, beautiful, life giving, contagious mess. Today we'll simply look at the Jesus community depicted in Acts 2 - its elements, its character, its fruit - and the current cultural & spiritual barriers to truly living in the Fellowship of the King.
