Did motherhood not only change you as a person, but change the way you view our society? Do you love your children but not always love motherhood because of how little our society actually values and supports moms? Maybe you’ve identified as a feminist forever or perhaps you’ve only recently come to notice the ways that women and mothers are oppressed by the patriarchy. Well I have a podcast for you!Introducing the Feminist Mom Podcast, where we look at motherhood through a feminist lens. My name is Erin Spahr. I’m a licensed therapist, feminist, and mother of two. Join me and my guests as we unpack the societal narratives surrounding modern motherhood and discuss how we can overcome them- both individually in our own lives and as a community. We’ll talk about how we are pushing back against oppressive gender roles and fighting for more equitable division of labor in the home and in the workplace. I’ve invited inspiring feminist moms from all walks of life to help us deepen our awareness of how intersecting forms of oppression impact our experiences as mothers and to help us realize the collective power that mothers have in shaping the next generation. My hope is that you’ll find these conversations relatable, validating and thought provoking. That you will share these episodes with people in your life to help facilitate discussions and increase mutual understanding. That you will feel more confident in your decisions as a mother and feel the support of a community of other feminist moms like you.Whether you're a mom, a supportive partner or simply interested in the intersection of feminism and motherhood, this podcast is for you. The Feminist Mom podcast is available on all major podcast platforms.
