The First 102 Bullets - How To Break In A Rifle Barrel Or Not

from Gary Lewis Outdoorsman · host Gary Lewis

In this episode of Ballistic Chronicles we talk about why you should create a ballistics journal for your new rifle. A ballistics journal? Well sure. I started keeping a journal for one of my favorite rifles in 2015. For that rifle, I have now six years of notes and observations. I know what happens with my favorite bullets from a cold, clean barrel and what to expect when the barrel is dirty. I’m not the first one to do this. The great African hunter and writer Finn Aagaard kept track of each bullet fired from his favorite rifles. Journaling, or chronicling, if you will, promotes an attitude of accuracy when you document each shot fired and what happened with that bullet. Of course, I have a lot of rifles and you probably do too, and maybe you’re not going to keep a journal for your 22 semi-auto, but consider keeping a journal for your hunting rifle.
