After earning a psychology degree and building a career in mental health, Charae decided to make a major change and pursue the passion she'd carried for years: music. Today, she's making her mark on Ottawa's music scene as a singer-songwriter, producer, sound engineer and founder of Rhythm With Rae. We explore her journey from going back to school at Algonquin College to working behind the scenes at major Ottawa music venues, developing her theatrical music project Dual Worlds, and building a business dedicated to making the audio industry more inclusive. Charae's work has earned her a nomination for Sound Engineer of the Year at the 2026 Capital Music Awards, but her story goes far beyond recognition. It's about taking chances, overcoming rejection, creating opportunities for others and finding the courage to build a life around what you love.
