The flesh is the life-lie that is in radical opposition to the way of the cross. The flesh way of being is all about "me." The me-centered life is rarely satisfying contrary to popular belief. Selfishness is a spiritual disease that may be terminal. We are beings that were made to glorify God and enjoy him forever, but that reality seems to have been forgotten. I have never seen or read a publication called 'Journal of Selfishness' nor 'Journal of Self Caused Misery,' but I have seen up close and from a distance the havoc of the flesh-lie. Jesus promises rest to those who bring their multiplied bundles of self-engendered and other-engendered miseries to him.
