The Flood - Episode 2: Shut all hull valves

from The Front · host The Australian

The Royal Australian Navy submarine HMAS Dechaineux is flooding deep under the Indian Ocean after a seawater hose burst. Its 60 crew are fighting to save their crippled submarine, with Petty Officer Geordie Bunting trapped under the water in the flooded lower motor room. The commander Peter Scott initiates emergency procedures, but he does not know how bad the flood is or whether it has been stopped. In episode two, we reveal the extraordinary dramas at both ends of the boat, as Bunting fights for life against the flood while Commander Scott and his crew try to prevent the flooded boat from sinking further towards the ocean bed. The Flood is a four-part audio and video documentary series by Cameron Stewart, Claire Harvey and Jasper Leak.
