The Follow-Up: Going to Extremes With John Waters

Legendary filmmaker John Waters found fame in the 1970s and 1980s with a series of campy and totally outrageous films, including “Pink Flamingos,” “Polyester” and “Hairspray,” among others. Known as the “Pope of Trash,” this Baltimore native is a hero in underground cult cinema circles. Late July brought Waters and his one-man show, “Going to Extremes” to Guild Hall. In advance of that show, Waters, who turned 80 in April, took part in a free-ranging phone conversation with the Express News Group’s Annette Hinkle and Guild Hall’s executive director Andrea Grover, an avid fan of Waters’ work.
