from Messages from the Word of God · host Nwankwo via Apogee
Our Scripture texts today are 1Kings 12.1-19 and Acts 19.21-32 from the topic "The Folly of Yielding to Peer Pressure." Blessings!!!When faced with peer pressure, we can make good or bad decisions. Consider Rehoboam.I.Good decision – take time to think. (vv1-5) II.Good decision – seek godly counsel. (vv6-7III.Bad decision – seeking counsel from bad influence. (vv8-11) IV.Bad decision – making it all about you. (vv12-15)V.The result of yielding to peer pressure - people revolted & the kingdom divided. (vv16-19)King David and King Solomon ruled over a united kingdom. The kingdom was divided after King Rehoboam yielded to peer pressure and the effects of that bad decision lasted centuries. Let us all learn from his mistake. He chose to listen to the wrong people. You and I can choose to listen to the Holy Spirit. If you have trouble hearing His voice, pray and ask Him to open your ears so that you may clearly hear from Him. In the meantime, seek godly counsel from trusted people who are living by the Word of God.
