The Food Plot Principle
from The Sportsman's Light · host Patrick
September food plots are going in the ground right now — brassicas, cereal grains, clover. Every man who's planted one knows the iron law: the plot gives back what you put in. Thin seed, poor prep, no lime — thin plot. Generous seed, good ground, honest work — a plot that feeds deer all winter. The land keeps exact books.Paul applied the same law to generosity: whoever sows sparingly reaps sparingly; whoever sows generously reaps generously. Not as a get-rich scheme — as a description of how God built the world. Stingy living produces a stingy life. Generous living — money, time, encouragement, forgiveness — comes back in a harvest the sower never fully controls but always receives. Most men farm their finances and their relationships like a neglected plot, then wonder why the harvest is thin. Check your seed rate. What you're scattering right now — into your marriage, your kids, your church, the people God puts in front of you — is exactly what will be standing in the field come winter.Prayer:Lord, show me where I've been sowing sparingly — holding back money, time, encouragement, or grace — and expecting a full harvest anyway.Make me a generous sower in every field of my life. I trust You with the harvest. Amen.Challenge:Pick one field you've been under-seeding — your marriage, a friendship, your giving, time with your kids — and sow generously into it this week: a deliberate, costly, above-normal investment.
