For more than a century, people in a dark Tennessee hollow have told stories about something that follows travelers after sunset. You hear soft footsteps padding along behind you. When you stop, they stop. When you start walking again, they're right there on your heels. Locals call it Pitty Pat. But the footsteps are only the beginning. Doctors, riverboat captains, motorists, farmers, and hunters have reported impossible collisions, headless passengers, women in white, towering shadow figures, and black masses that seem capable of climbing trees.
