A group of young frogs disobeys their Grandfather Frog’s warning to stay home and venture out of their pond to explore the valley. Lured by what they believe to be a gathering of fireflies for them to feast on, they stumble upon a fairies' party. Offended by their intrusion and intent to eat their lantern-bearers, the Fairy Queen punishes the frogs by taking away one toe from each of their front paws. She then drives them back to their pond.
