Scripture shows that joy is not circumstantial emotion, but the settled gladness that flows from knowing we belong to God, are preserved by Him, and are seated in His presence. True joy is found where God is, not in what changes around us.In Psalm 16, David speaks from trust, worship, and assurance. He declares that the Lord Himself is his portion, his inheritance, and his cup. Because the Lord is at his right hand, he is not shaken. Joy flows from this positioning. Gladness rises from confidence in God’s nearness, counsel, and faithfulness. This joy is not fleeting. It is rooted in hope, preserved life, and eternal security.The fullness of joy reaches its completion in Christ. In Him, we know we are preserved, instructed, and seated in God’s presence. At God’s right hand there is no lack, no fear, and no end.
