THE FUNDAMENTALIST MORMON Part 4 Kingdom of God

from LDS Last Days Prophecy and Gospel Discussions · host Red Bearded Mormon

THE FUNDAMENTALIST MORMON Part 4 on Fundamentally Mormon      Kingdom of God   The Old Testament Kingdom of God was a political power that governed the House of Israel. This concept was restored to Joseph Smith with the Gospel and established in 1843, separate from the organization of the Church in 1830. George Q. Cannon said: [20]We are asked, Is the Church of God and the Kingdom of God the same organization? and we are informed that some of the brethren hold that they are separate. This is the correct view to take. The Kingdom of God is a separate organization from the Church of God. (DHC 7:382) And B. H. Roberts said: It is proper for the reader to know that Joseph Smith, when speaking strictly, recognized a distinction between “the Church of Jesus Christ” and the “Kingdom of Cod” and not only a distinction but a separation of one from the other. The Kingdom of God according to his teaching is to be a political institution that shall hold sway over all the earth to which all other governments will be subordinate and by which they will be dominated. (The Rise and Fall of Nauvoo, p. 180)
