On the eve of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit, Dr Marty Natalegawa, former Foreign Minister of Indonesia joined the University of Sydney for a public lecture. Dr Natalegawa discussed the challenges and opportunities facing the ten-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations in an era of rapid geopolitical change. Co-hosted by the University of Sydney, Australian Institute of International Affairs, and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the lecture was introduced by Dr Michael Spence AC, Vice Chancellor and Principal, the University of Sydney. The lecture was followed by a discussion with Dr Michael Vatikiotis (author of Blood and Silk: Power and Conflict in Modern Southeast Asia).
