The future of Burnaby’s parks—with Cllr Daniel Tetrault and Kate McMahon, For Our Kids

Mayor Mike Hurley talks with Cllr Daniel Tetrault and Kate McMahon, Burnaby lead of For Our Kids and a member of the Beecher Creek #Streamkeepers community. Daniel is the Chair of Burnaby's #Parks, Recreation and Culture Committee. This discussion explores the important work of volunteers and community groups in protecting and improving our parks and green spaces; ensuring access to these spaces keeps pace with the needs of a growing city, and how local planning across housing, transportation and other areas of growth are crucial to making that possible. We also discuss the role parks play in supporting active living for people of all ages and across our diverse communities; creating places where children can learn about nature and have opportunities for free play outdoors; and the wider role our parks can play in achieving our #climate goals, from providing cooling and managing stormwater to supporting local food production.
