The Galaxy Mocked Humanity’s Ships Until the War Began scifishortsto

from Short SciFi Stories on the go · host Kelli Korner

Compared to their sleet cruisers and shining dreadnots, our vessels looked like blunt steel hammers, slow, ugly, outdated. They laughed, certain that the first clash would erase Earth from the stars, but their arrogance was their mistake. Our ships did not rely on elegance, they relied on power, massive rail slugs, traveling at impossible speeds, tore through enemy holes as if they were paper, entire formations vanished in seconds. Every human volley struck with brutal precision, and one by one, the council's proudest ships became wreckage drifting among the stars. They were predators disguised as prey, and when the First War ended, the galaxy understood, never again would Earth be underestimated.
