The Gift That Frees Two Hearts

There’s a story of two childhood friends who had a bitter falling out. Years passed, and one of them, now a grown man, sat at his father’s funeral regretting the silence between them. After the service, the other friend approached him, embraced him, and whispered, “It’s been too long. I forgive you. Can we start again?” That moment, more than flowers or speeches, brought healing. Forgiveness is one of the most powerful gifts we can give—but also one of the hardest. In Ephesians 4:32, Paul urges believers to be kind, compassionate, and forgiving—just as God forgave us in Christ. Forgiveness is not about pretending the hurt didn’t happen. It’s about releasing someone from the debt they owe us, because God released us from ours.
