“The Giver” Movie Talk: Undoing Repression - Going Deeper Retreat Day 3, David Hoffmeister A Course in Miracles

from A Course in Miracles (ACIM) Podcast · host David Hoffmeister ACIM Teacher

When you accept your calling, the Holy Spirit will give you new tasks to expand and train your mind in a loving direction. The futuristic world portrayed in this movie "The Giver" is based on repression of memory and emotion, and hence it is tightly controlled by rules and protectionism. When the main character, Jonas, becomes 18 he is given an expanded role with access, through his mentor, to memories and emotions that the rest of the population do not have, with the idea that he will be able to offer them wise guidance in the future. Joining with his mentor, Jonas faces unconscious darkness and experiences powerful emotions. He soon realizes that although this world has eliminated chaos, it has also eliminated love and freedom. His loyalty dramatically shifts from obeying the rules to setting everyone's mind free and awakening. We all, likewise, must be willing to feel our dark feelings and move through them to Awakening. This edited movie gathering with David Hoffmeister took place at Living Miracles Monastery in Duchesne, Utah on April 18, 2017.Follow us on:YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/DavidHoffmeister https://www.youtube.com/@LivingMiraclesFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/ACIM.ACourseInMiracles Learn more about David & Living Miracles:https://circle.livingmiraclescenter.org/eventsLearn more about A Course in Miracles:https://ACIM.bizDavid's Spanish YouTube Channel is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP9Gw00CldPUmiu43y7fdWwDavid's Portuguese YouTube Channel is:https://www.youtube.com/@davidhoffmeisterucem
