The Glass Dog | L. Frank Baum Stories

A wizard creates a pink glass dog that barks to keep unwanted visitors away. A glass-blower makes the dog but, seeking wealth, he uses a magic cure he receives from the wizard to heal the wealthy Miss Mydas, who promises to marry him. However, she then demands he steal the glass dog for her. After stealing the dog the wizard gives the glass blower a beauty powder as payment, only the beauty is skin deep. After this Miss Mydas agrees to marry the glass blower as long as he is happy with an allowance of four dollars a week.
