The God Who Rescues 5: What's at the Top of God's List - Genesis 6:2-7:7

from Toronto Alliance Church · host Toronto Alliance Church

Before my wife and I got married, we got to know each other. She was quick to say what she did not like, my beard, my music. And I knew that at the center of her life was a passion to follow Jesus, and to bring the gospel to at-risk people. I knew her then. But after 43 years, I know her a lot better. All those things are true. But now I see the depths of them.I called today's message "What's at the Top of God's List?" At the top of His list is knowing Him. Maybe you do know him already. But He says to us: "Not like this. I want you to know Me deeper. I want you to know Me more."A marriage can get into coasting mode, making sure the kids are fed and bills are paid. You barrel on through. But often, kids grow up and two people look across the table at each other and say, "I don't know you."We can do the same with God. God's deep passion is that we would know Him and would grow in that.We come to a chapter in Exodus that is all about this. God wants His messengers, His people, and the lost to know Him more.Extra reading: Philippians 3:7-11Preacher: Bill Dyck
