Education and moral pressure cannot cure hearts ruled by sin. In Ezekiel’s vision, Israel is as helpless as very dry bones, unable to restore itself after God’s judgement. God’s word gathers the bones, but His Spirit gives them life. He joins His divided people, cleanses them, and places them under Jesus, the promised shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep.
