So really, what's the point of a beauty pageant? What's the point of modeling, & or creating a model? From the Miss America pageant, to the Westminster Dog Show, to a car dealership's show room model, it's really all the same. Any & all modeling is an attempt to reveal the ideal standard. Even the American dollar had an ideal standard. What was the ideal standard of the dollar until 1933? Gold! As Christians, we have a model. We have an ideal standard. But most importantly, & despite what troubles we may be going through, we have hope because of the model set before us. Join us this Sunday for our sermon: "The Gold Standard," in 1 Peter 3:18-22, where we'll learn how our optimism for the future is based on Jesus being the gold standard for dealing with pain, suffering & troubles.
