The Good Confession

Paul charges Timothy to keep the good confession, as Christ Jesus made the good confession before Pontius Pilate: "My kingdom is not of this world. For this purpose I was born, to bear witness to the truth." Christ spoke the Father's words with perfect purity, though he came in the likeness of sinful flesh. Believers make their own confession of faith, not as elite Christians but as sinners who need a Savior. The doctrine confessed and the Christ confessed stand or fall together.
