The Gospel of John - Alive in Me

When I was growing up, there was a game show called “Let’s make a Deal!” Its host was a man named Monty Hall. At the end of the program, Monty would show the two winning contestants three doors. There was something behind all three doors. It may be a donkey eating a piece of fruit or it could be a new car or even an expensive vacation. But the contestants had to choose the right door. Choose the wrong door, and it’s a bust. But choose the right door and you’ve got new wheels to ride around in or a new kitchen to cook in. Often, God’s people treat the Holy Spirit like He’s Monty Hall. They want the Holy Spirit to tell them which door to choose, or what exactly is behind door number three? They want him to tell them the best person to marry, the right job to take, the best place to live, or the best house to live in. But the Holy Spirit wants to do far more in and through your life than just to help you make good decisions. He wants far more for you than Monty Hall ever would. The Spirit of God wants, not just to use you, but to make you a certain kind of person. In John 19, the resurrected Jesus breathes on His disciples and gives them the gift of the Holy Spirit. And this begs a question, “How am I supposed to live out the gift of the Holy Spirit within me?” Join us this weekend as we discuss the incredible opportunity we are given to be led by the Spirit every single day.
