Hello everybody, welcome back to another episode of Broken Record. My name is Ellie, I am your host and today I thought it would be great if we could talk about the Grammys because the Grammys happened this past Sunday and a lot of cool things happened and a lot of not very cool things happened. So I thought it would be good to talk about it. I want to start with the pre-Grammys ceremony, which is basically like the ceremony that's happening when the red carpet happens for the actual Grammys and it's like basically they just announced the awards that don't get announced on TV during the actual Grammys ceremony.

So first of all, the major thing that happened there is Viola Deimis became an E-GOT winner, which is so exciting. Yay, I'm so proud of her. She's like, there's only like seven women and only like three African American women that have one. I'm very likely I'm getting those numbers wrong, but it is something really small.

And so I'm proud of her. That's awesome. She won it for Best Audio Book Nerration and Storytelling. She wrote a book called Finding Me and I guess she won for like the audio book version of it, but that's so exciting.

I'm so proud of her. The next thing that happened at the pre-ceremony was Taylor Swift won Best Music Video for all too well, the 10 minute version, the short film. And I'm proud of her for that. I think that that's just an incredible video.

I, this, the whole Taylor Swift 10 minute version short film is very tricky for me for the Grammys because I feel as if it should be in its own category because it was nominated for Best Music Video and all the other music videos in the category were like the length of the songs. But this one was obviously a lot longer because there's like scenes in between it and then there was also, I think it was nominated for either song of the year or record of the year as well. And it didn't win either of those, but still, I feel like the short film shouldn't be nominated. I feel like the 10 minute version should be nominated.

But I don't know. I'm not really, I don't know all the rules for this. So I can't really comment on anything. But, so that's all I want to talk about at the pre-grammys, but at the actual Grammys.

So the first thing that happened was Bad Bunny performed. He performed Disquest Hill Pia. And it was really fun. We saw a bunch of celebrities dancing in the audience.

They were getting into it. It was super cute. Taylor Swift was like dancing with one of his dancers and they were super cute. It was adorable.

And then the next thing that happened is Adele met The Rock because who doesn't want to meet The Rock, but she had like said previously that like that's the celebrity she would want to meet. And so they did and it was so cute. And then later on in the night Adele won Song of the Year, Record of the Year maybe, I forget which one. But she won something for Easy on Me and The Rock announced it and he was like, get up here best friend.

And I thought it was so cute. It was, it was adorable. The second performance we saw was Brandy Carlisle. And oh my God, I love her so much.

Her voice is like unmatched. It's incredible. She performs broken horses and her wife and kids introduced her and it was the cutest thing ever. But oh my God, Brandy Carlisle is just like on a different level.

She's incredible. It's insane to me. Like the way her voice sounds. Yeah.

And then Harry Styles won Best Pop Local Album, which is so exciting. Very proud of him for that. That's his second Grammy ever. That's so exciting.

I love that. And he later on went on to win Album of the Year, which is like one of the big four, which is so exciting. And I'm so happy for him because he just deserves a little kitty-bitty. But okay, something that happened during his acceptance speech that really bothered me was there was a fan in the audience, like either a seat filler or just someone who had a ticket and was sitting in the upper bowl.

And they yelled during his speech that Beyonce should have won. And I felt so bad for Harry because that's just like so disrespectful. And it really made me upset because it's not Harry's fault that he won over Beyonce. It's like if anyone should be upset, my theory is it would be the recording academy because this was a voted on.

This award was voted on by members of the academy. It wasn't like a public voting type of thing. So I don't know. It made me really upset and it made me feel bad for Harry because he was so excited and they should have let him have his moment because he was anyone who won that over Beyonce was going to get hate because her fan base is like insane.

But I don't know. It made me sad. But I don't think Harry heard it. Or if he did, he didn't really react to it in the moment.

So that was good. But he had a little cute speech too. It was, oh, okay. Something I do want to talk about is throughout the night, they were showing clips of fans.

There was like 10, the Grammys had got a group of 10 fans to meet up before the ceremony. And they were sitting at a round table and they were talking about, oh, I think Harry Styles should win the album the year because this. I think that money should win the album the year because this I think Kendrick Lamar should win the audio. And they had one fan for each person nominated, which was so cool.

And it was really funny to see everyone's stories. But there was a grandma who was there for Harry Styles because I don't even know how she got picked. But she was the cutest and I love her to death. And so Trevor Noah who hosted the show when it was time to announce album of the year.

The fans were at the show and there was sitting on the side and he was like, why don't you guys come up here and you can be up here when we announce it. And so he did his whole speech. He did the intro. They read the nominees and then he opened the envelope and then he walked over to the grandma.

I was like, why don't you read it? And she was like, Harry Styles. And it was so cute. It was the cutest thing.

I recommend watching that video because it's just adorable. She was so shocked by it. And then Harry's reaction to it too. He ran up to her and gave her a big hug.

It was the cutest thing. She did my history. She is now the winner. She's now the person with the most granny wins ever.

So that's pretty darn cool. That's crazy to me that someone living in our time has the most granny wins ever. That's crazy. That's insane.

It still like blows my mind. Another thing that happened in the country world of music, Willie Nelson won the best country album, which is so cool because there's a lot of people in there and there's a lot of good options, which I guess is the point because it's the granny's you got to have good options. But Willie Nelson won and I was so proud of him. He's such a little cutie.

He wasn't there. So she and I twin who presented the award accepted on his we have and I love to know it's a queen. I love it. But yeah, it was a lot of cute little moment.

And then the next thing that happened also made history. Sam Smith and Kim Petrus won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo Group Performance. And it was so cute because she had said that Sam was Kim Petrus like accepted the award in Sam was just standing behind her and he was like Sam, Sam wanted me to accept this award because she's the first transgender woman to win this category. So I thought that was really cool.

There's a lot of history being made at the cramies tonight. OK, the next thing I want to talk about is just so I watched the show with my mom when just because they had just gone back from a trip and they just like wanted to relax. So we were watching the Grammys as we should and Lizzo live love Lizzo. She's such a queen.

She won the award for Record of the Year, I believe. Yeah, she won the award for Record of the Year and she had such the cutest speech. She was like so giddy, so happy and she was like just so smiley and it was so cute and she told you could totally tell she wasn't expecting to win and so that just made her reaction like even better. And then at the end she was like, we want to be Grammy like she's sworn.

It was the funniest thing ever. Lizzo had the cutest speech and it was so cute. And my mom was like, I love her. She's so cute.

And I was like, as you should, Lizzo was adorable and she's so positive too. I love her. She's like so like just like love yourself and like her music and she did a performance earlier in the night and it was very like self love themed and it was the cutest ever. It was insane.

Oh my gosh. I love her. She's the cutest. I don't really think of the first lady of the United States presenting awards but like for Joe.

Like okay, if I was the first lady I would totally use that to like get into Grammy's. But it's insane to me. But Bonnie Wright won, which is so fun and so cute and she totally didn't expect it either. She was so like shocked.

She like barely get words out. It was the cutest and like, okay, sorry, I just remembered something and I'm so excited to talk about it. So some air joy, one best new artist and I'm so proud of her because she's a jazz singer, which is not very common these days and she was going against a lot of like pop singers and like more like mainstream genres and she's still one and she's she's adorable and I love her to death and I just discovered her but I still never did that. She's the cutest and her voice is outstanding.

Like it's like jazz is such the perfect genre for her voice. It oh my gosh. She's so cute and I love her to death and I want to be best friends with her. She's the cutest.

I love some air joy. She's so adorable. That's that's really all the main things I wanted to talk about at the Grammys, but I just love it so much. And oh, they also did a there was the it were I guess this year is the 50th anniversary of hip hop.

And so there was like this like 10 minute melody medley, sorry, not melody medley of like all the most iconic hip hop songs that like like so many famous hip hop artists came out to sing. And it was so cool. It was like very like you like almost couldn't like focus on one thing because there was just like every few seconds there was just someone new coming in or there was a new background or they were doing a dance. Like it was it was it was a very cool and very well done performance.

You could tell there was a lot of work put into it, which is always so fun to see. But yeah, that's I love that. So that was last Sunday moving on to this Sunday. It is actually the Super Bowl in case you didn't know the Sunday is the Super Bowl and Rihanna is doing the halftime show, which is so exciting.

It's like, I think this is her first time performing in a couple years. I forget how long, but it's definitely been a while and I'm so excited to see her perform because it's Rihanna who doesn't want to see Rihanna perform, but that's insane. I'm so excited to see what she sings and a lot of people think she's going to go on tour after she performs. So fingers crossed because I would love to see Rihanna on tour because I was a little bit too young to be into her and see her the last time she toured.

Yes. Oh, I was her last time was in 2016 and I just wasn't into her then. So I didn't go. I also don't even know if she went to Seattle, but I hope she does this time because Rihanna is iconic and I want to see her and also Beyonce is going on tour.

What? I want to see Beyonce on tour. She's insane. There's just like some people that like you just have to go see on tour, even if you're not like obsessed with their music, you know?

And I feel like Beyonce and Rihanna are two of those people. I feel like you could just ask anyone and be like, hey, do you want to go to a Beyonce concert or are they going to be like, yes? One is it? Let's go.

I mean, there's just like certain people that like you could ask anyone and they'd be like, okay, sure, like, let's do it. Which I love because that's so fun. But yeah, thank you so much for listening to this episode. My name is Ellie.
