Welcome back. Welcome back. Dan and Brent, I'm Brent. I'm Dan.

What's going to happen to do? Man, not much. I'm out. Actually a lot.

Actually a lot. Actually a lot. Actually a lot. Actually a lot.

Yeah. So it's going to ask you what you're doing this weekend. Nothing. Just kind of by myself.

Me and my daughter hang out because my wife's on vacation in Florida. She's only a momcation. Momcation. That's what she called it.

She got like shirts and aid and all kinds of stuff. No way. Yeah. So I'm going to do a dad vacation.

We're going to Vegas. And she's like, if you go to Vegas, I'm going to Vegas. Yeah. So it's just totally deny that this shit is happening right now.

It's technically not global warming. It is climate change. Climate change. Whatever.

It's hot as shit. The winners are getting worse and the summers are getting worse. Yeah. It makes perfect sense.

I mean earth's heating up. There's more precipitation. There's more hurricanes. There's more snow.

There's more rain. How do you think that is happening? Well, there's got to be more heat for more water to evaporate. They'll create more precipitation.

I mean, it's insane. I don't even like having these discussions. Because it's like talking to a flatter. Yeah.

Seriously, man? It's just like, listen. I'll just have to let this go because I can have a more intelligent conversation with first grader. I think you as a person, just don't like your beliefs.

Yeah. If it's something esoteric, yeah, I'm down. Believe whatever you want. But if it's something that's scientifically proven, could you please stop just like, no, just don't think it's real.

Come on, man. Yeah. It's a little bit much. Anyway, didn't want to get off on a tangent.

It's not great. It's not great. No, yes, I just been hanging out by myself. Just I went bowling yesterday.

Well, you weren't by yourself. You weren't with your daughter. Yeah. And then we went to my ex-wife's sister's house to hang out with her and her.

Yeah, it's not weird at all. Yeah, it's a really normal weekend. What? Yeah, we're friends.

Ex-wife's sister. Okay. My daughter's aunt. Okay, I'm just going to let that go.

So, yeah, that made me like a new work truck last week. Yeah. Which saves me from having to buy my own personal truck pretty much. Yeah, I'm pretty jealous because I drive the work van.

Yeah, I had that for a long time. Craig's actually driving mine now. Yeah, is he really? Yeah, why?

Because mine had like 20,000 left miles or the lease was up on his or something. I can't remember. That's weird. Yeah, it's a lot less disgusting driving on.

What do you have a Colorado or something? That's awesome. Just a 20, 20 size. There we go.

What's up, what's up, man? How's your week, man? It's been pretty good. I just got my roof done.

It was pretty good. It was a fucking nightmare dealing with the roofers though. I mean, not the roofers themselves. The people who did the work.

Pretty company. Fine. They did great. But the company was...

Yeah, the company sucks ass, man. So, I should have known better when the salesman showed up an hour and a half late told me he was going to be a little late. Yeah, a little late is like 15 minutes. 15 minutes.

I was expecting you at 6 o'clock. Like, I left work early to make sure that I could get back on time to be here beforehand. Yeah. You know, straighten up a little bit, maybe not look like we're a bunch of, you know, Hill Jax when people walk in the door and then nothing.

I'm like, hey, man, what's up? Well, we're a little bit late. Hour and a half later. Yeah, his baby headed like Peyton Manning's worst brother looking dude shows up.

And I can't get mad at him because I feel like I'm yelling at a tall baby. And it's just been disappointment and excuses one after another. The scheduler called me and he was like, hey, man, we're going to do it on such, such Friday, which was two days ago. And I'm like, cool, I know you can do a roof in one day, but if possible, could you schedule it Monday through Thursday in case it goes two days, I don't want it to be on Saturday, not only for my own sanity, but also for my neighbors.

Yeah. They're like, Mr. Glaser, we do roofs twice the size of yours in less than a day. I think we can handle it.

I'm like, okay, man, no problem. Just let you know. Yeah, they didn't show up. So had to be after lunch because I got here at 4.30 on Friday and they had only gotten into the back half of the tear out.

Like they had clearly just started after lunch. And I'm like, motherfucker. And I tried to call the dude no answer. Tried to call the dude no answer.

So long story short, big surprise. They were still here Saturday. They started at 8 in the morning and I'm like, nail guns at 8 in the morning. I'm like, fuck, I don't go to bed early on Friday, man.

That's horrible. Yeah. So I thought they started Saturday. No.

And then they fucking left their trailer here too. Yeah, they finally get it. Yeah, they had to call them at 9 o'clock this morning. It's like, well, I'm going to be a church for the next four hours.

So, you know, not going to be able to do anything for a while. And you know, it's Sunday. So probably nothing's going to happen. And she's like unacceptable.

Yeah, that's not acceptable. You're done with your job. Why'd you leave your trailer here in the first place? Yeah.

And I know it was the same people that did Jack's place across the street. And I don't know if you recall, but there was a trailer across the street from my house for like a week. Really? They just leave it there until the next job?

I think they did. That is insane. Yeah, you can't do that. No, dude.

And they had left it in my driveway. They pulled it out in the street. It's already a pain in the ass for us. They leave a big ass fucking construction trailer there.

No explanation. No, hey, can we leave it here for a little while? Hey, we're going to pick it up on such such a day. Fucking no communication the whole time.

That's crazy. What is your problem? I would get fired if I had it like that. Yeah.

It drove me insane. Well, you want to hear something crazy? I do want to hear something crazy shit. So, there was a meth lab bus in my house.

No. What? Yeah. Was there an explosion?

No, no, no, it was just the upgraded meth lab and like had roads blocked off and like the house quarantine and like hosing people off in the front yard and has not suits and all that. What? Did ran and go running outside and like fuck. Damn it.

That's my friend Julie's house. No, no, no, no. What are your friends? You had a heart attack.

Wait, wait, wait, hold up. Why is that about you? Why are you so leechy? Mm.

Stop looking to me. It's just crazy. I mean, my neighborhood's not like maybe like one of your neighbors getting busted with meth house. You'd be like, wait, what?

Yeah. It's just a neighborhood. I would like to clarify it. Rent is not living a shady neighborhood.

No, no, I don't live in a meth neighborhood. Yeah, that's meth for you. Yeah, I guess so. It'll ruin your life and you just decide to make a meth lab in your perfectly normal house.

Yeah. Wow, I can't believe that. That's crazy. Hasn't it, suits?

Yeah. All nine yards. People can get to their houses. They have their houses.

They have their roads completely blocked off so people would like to get escorted by police to their home. Man, I wonder when they started doing that. Meth? No.

Like, no, like the correct way of like quarantining a house. I mean, yeah, cause I mean some of the stuff and I mean super dangerous kimples and I mean the fumes that come off it can cause cancer and all kinds of good stuff. Damn. It's just like, yeah, like you're an asshole for doing that in the neighborhood in the first place.

Second place is the scope of the woods where no one's going to stop you. Right. I mean, there's a guy in my hometown in Indiana that had a mobile meth lab and that seemed to make the most sense. Right.

Like just put that shit in the back of a box truck. Walter White just walked right way up to the top. Why not? That's the way everybody should do it.

And then I think they finally caught him in a cornfield somewhere and just like being obvious. Like, hey man, is that a meth lab? Hey, dude, sir. What?

Not me. Your truck's like four feet taller than these cornfield that you're in. Yeah. Oh man.

But no, that's um, it's been pretty much my week man. Meth labs, vacation. That's nuts. Yeah.

It's funny like every time I hear the like an apartment complex kitchen on fire I'm like meth lab. And it usually is. I mean, I can't believe just normal people try. I mean, it makes sense.

It's only internet. Someone's going to do it. But like you would think you'd want a little better knowledge about science for creating a drug. Yeah.

I mean, anything that you make at home like. I can barely make fudge correctly. Right. And that's there's so much stirring.

There's so much stirring involved. Why is it gritty? You'll be ready to give up on fudge before you do it correctly. Unless you have a machine.

The first time I did it correctly and it was perfect, nice and smooth. And then every other time I tried to recreate that it's like gritty and it doesn't turn out right. I'm like, fuck. Yeah, it's not worth it.

Kind of gross chocolate really. You think about it? It's the best chocolate. I love fudge.

Is it just cocoa? What's it do with fudge anyway? It's lots of sugar and milk and it's good. That's what it is.

It's super concentrated. Yeah, pretty much sugar chocolate milk. I like that idea. Right.

Like let's melt the sugar down so much we can fit in the, uh, how much sugar we fit in this milk. But yeah, I love fudge. I love fudge. Oh, you do.

Yeah. Hey, those are some cool glasses. Are those new? Uh, another one.

Why makes you look kind of cyberpunk. Thanks. Have you come up with any cyberpunk name? I think so.

So you basically take something you dislike, first part of name and something you like for the second part. Yeah, pretty much. I saw it on Twitter this week. So finally got the password from me for the show Twitter.

Otherwise I probably wouldn't be on Twitter. Um, there's this whole thread about your cyberpunk name is something you don't like, followed by something that you do. So, you know, like jazz ninjas. It's pretty good.

So like, it's about your dragon snaps. It's not bad. I like dragon snaps. Very beautiful flower.

Running knives. I was actually the first one that Terry suggested to me. She was like running. You don't like running.

I'm like, yeah, you're right. She's like exercise. I get it. Cool.

Try to know how pocket. Yeah. You like hot pockets? Yeah.

I mean, I like anything that's quick and easy. Not all right. All right. I mean, I mean, for that sound dirty.

Did you know, seriously, do you like hot pockets? Do you buy them on purpose? Brainy buys them. Really?

What's wrong with her? I don't know. Like you did. Yeah.

I'm locking up because it's I can't understand it. I can't understand. Breakfast. OK, the breakfast won't back.

Just don't know. She eats the pizza ones for breakfast. Oh, gross. It's not that bad.

Doesn't she have acid reflux? Yeah, she doesn't do anything about it. What the fuck? We're all crazy.

We are. It seems like a good comedy lately though. Yeah. Who are you?

Who are you? You've seen a couple weeks ago. I saw Tom's girl, which was cool because. How many?

You know, he's fantastic. Anyway, absolutely bonus. Do you know Jafftaydas? Yeah.

Yeah, he opened for him. What? Yeah. Like I think me and like five of the people in the audience knew who Jafftayd was and they're like, Jafftayd, welcome Jafftayd.

And I'm like, what the fuck? And Terry's like, what? And I'm like, we're getting two headliners. That's what the fuck.

Yeah. Yeah. Like he must have just wanted to bring Jaffa along or something. That's awesome.

Because it was great. Oh yeah, I'm sure it was amazing. Yeah, it was fantastic. And totally figured out how to do galier dude.

Yeah. Box seats. So there's the floor, which unless you're close, like I think you were for a recigura. Yeah.

Unless you're up in that area. Kind of sucks. Like further back you go on the floor garbage. First here is boxes.

You're like, OK, I'm going to want some box seat. It's nothing fancy. Except there's only two chairs in probably an area the size of the small-ass room that we're boarding. So you get all that room and you get all that room.

And you're up above the stage, right? You're not about this. Well, kind of. But you're back about halfway.

And then you've got the box. There's your own little bar back there too. What? No way.

There's like a little, and if I don't get box seats again, I totally am going to remember this bar. If you go up to the second floor and then go around to the left side. It's like a bar no one goes to everyone's downstairs. Pack.

Yes. Absolutely. I don't even know if I'm going to get a beer. Yeah, I think it was late to Tom's Scorshow because I was waiting out there trying to get drinks.

Yeah, that's more accurate. Like, let's be real. I'm going to wait for a beer, but it's going to stop. Yeah.

Yeah, some awesome comedy, man. Dude. And then last week, it's unrelated to us not recording. It's just me being lazy.

But last week, last Saturday, we wanted to saw a neighbor got seat at the Charleston Music Hall. Don't know if you've ever seen anything there. But it's a great place to see a show. There's not.

There's literally not a bad seat in there. Charleston Music Hall? Yeah, it's across from the. I think I've been there.

I've been to Music Farm. It's across from Music Farm. OK. Yeah.

It's just a small venue, but it's built almost like a movie theater. There's not a lot of seats, but the ones that are there. All at a while. Yeah, I have a lot of radio.

Yeah. No one's too super far away from the stage or at a weird angle or? Yeah, I think there's a Netflix thing where there's a bunch of 30-minute spots. He got real popular from then.

And then his newest one, I think it's called the Tennessee Kid, also a Netflix. Yeah. Fantastic. I mean, I won't ruin any of the new stuff, but he didn't encore with some of his more popular jokes.

Like the milk with ice, you ever heard that one? I don't know if I've ever listened to it. He was talking about typically what he orders, because he doesn't like all the bullshit that's involved with Starbucks. He'll walk up and he'll be like, you know, just ice coffee with milk.

Ice coffee with milk. That's his order every single time he knows it by heart. Ice coffee with milk. Well, you know, sometimes they fuck up.

One day, some dude clearly didn't hear very well, enhance him a cup with milk and ice. And he's like, what the fuck is that? And he's like, do I look like a psychopath to you? Who the fuck comes in here and orders milk with ice, man?

Don't you think there should be some coffee in there? Isn't this a coffee bar? Yeah, it is really like, here's your milk with ice, sir. Yeah, that is something a psychopath who told you.

You go on a list for that shit. Yeah, I went. Oh, go, sir. No, I was just being a psychopath.

I watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Really? I didn't know Matthew McConnie isn't it? It's like one of the main bad guys.

And what? He has a weird like cyberpunk leg and everything. Whoa, I gotta watch that. What's it on?

It's a show time. Yes. I was like, in the description, it was like, I basically called it a comedy. And I'm watching, I'm like, this is definitely a horror movie, not a comedy.

I mean, it's farcical, but not on purpose. Wow. And that was like the legit sequel like a long time ago? Or was that like a redo?

I don't know. It's older, but Matthew McConnie is still growing. It's not like he's a kid. I mean, it's definitely after a day's confused.

Weird. Well, I guess it would have been after the reboot, because I don't think Texas Chainsaw Massacre is all that reason. I don't know. It was just weird.

It's definitely an older movie. Huh. I don't know. It sounds fucking awesome.

Watching that. You watch that today? Yeah. This morning.

Yeah, this morning. Who watches horror on a Sunday morning? I'll forget about it by night time and one time, I'm not Mayor's Dan. That's a good method.

I wouldn't have not Mayor's time if he anyways. Also getting ready to go see Reece Darby. Yeah, I had to ask you that was. Yeah.

I feel like you should know that because you were. I know of him. I don't fan of silly music, like Fly the Concordes. And from the show, Fly the Concordes.

Reece Darby would be Murray. The manager. The manager. The manager.

The manager. And if you've seen what we're doing, shadows, he's the head werewolf. That's pretty good. Shame, shame, shame.

Excellent stand up too, by the way. I mean, if you can catch it on. I think on Amazon, I'm going to have to chase a couple of them. It's fantastic.

He's really funny. He's got an excellent podcast that is actually less frequent than this one called the Cryptobacter. Also hilarious. So once a month, twice a month then.

Yeah. I mean, I think the last episode they released was maybe in June. Yeah, this view podcast I'll have to do that, or at least quarterly, like yearly quarterly, like four shows a year. Well then, we're doing pretty good then.

They do way better research. Whatever. So what we're talking about today? They don't know us.

What we're talking about? We're talking about the magical human eye. Eye vision. Well actually, eyes in general.

Vision in general. Yep. It's pretty spectacular. So like everyone knows, most humans have two eyes.

Well, three, technically. Yeah, Pioneer Land. Not included. Yeah.

Although it does have optical nerves. Does it really? Yeah. Did you look at them?

No. I just know that from past shows. It has light sensitive cells in the Pioneer Land. Sorry, I'm bringing my tart cherry juice.

I have minor panic attacks this morning. So try to keep the blood pressure down. So yeah, human vision. Binocular vision was called because we got two eyes.

Like binoculars. They have two lenses. That's something I don't think about a lot, but it's totally a thing. Like the depth perception.

That's how we have depth perception. Yeah. I wouldn't want to go with that. Well, basically, our brain is taking two separate images and turning them to a 3D image.

It totally affects what you can drive with one eye. Yeah. Well, because you've learned the distance. Yeah, but I mean, it's legal.

Oh, yeah. That's strange that it's legal. Like if one of my contacts walks up and I can only see how one eye, I'm not driving. Yeah.

I'll get in an accident. I totally. Yeah, everybody's going to die. I had to add someone's dog in my eyeglasses yesterday, by the way.

No, dude. I wondered why you weren't wearing them. And so now I just can't see. It's cool though.

No, it's not. I'll probably get some next year. Oh, damn it. Go get some glasses, man.

Yeah, I might. But I have to take time off work. It's a big hassle. Don't really feel like dealing with it.

Go take some time off work. It's like an hour. Maybe. Maybe.

And you can do it on Saturdays. Can you? Yeah, totally. I don't think my adou are going to Saturdays.

Good fucking Walmart, man. I might just go Monday. Yeah, go Monday. It's dangerous.

I mean, it's not that blind. Yeah, but you can use it as a excuse. Like it's a safety concern. That is true.

Yeah, I got to work. Anyway, I'm both. Hey, we're talking about eyes anyway. Yeah, so basically your regular vision is about 114 degrees.

Like what you see, like, oh, you're, like, you're not your field of vision, about 114 degrees. I'm horizontally, of course. And then another 40% is all peripheral vision. Oh, shit, I know that.

So that's the stuff that's on the outskirts of your vision. That's pretty sweet. Which peripheral vision's really good at picking up movement, bad at picking up detail. Whereas your frontal vision could have a detailed, not so great at picking up motion.

So this might seem a little disjointed in like most of the stuff. It has already. That's cool. The reason we're talking about this is because there's some crazy shit that goes on that we're all just sort of accepted.

Yeah, and not even accepted. It's just like, this is just the way your brain interprets your eyes and makes it work so that you're not, I guess, your vision is more clear pretty much. Well, it's just such a part of our life that it doesn't seem weird to us. Like that Pete Holmes joke about like, I just remember the other day that electric eels are a thing.

Yeah, like it's kind of like that where you're like, oh fuck eels, you just don't even think about it. I got to exist. Electricity comes out of an animal and everybody's just like, yeah, that happens. Yeah, eyes are kind of the same way.

So a little bit about how they're put together. Did you know they have 2000 moving parts? I did not know that many moving parts. Yeah, the only, also the only cells that live longer in your body or in your brain, you have most of the cells in your eye for your entire life.

Yeah. Which is really odd because most of our cells we shed or go off or new on their own somewhere. I don't know. Grow to be babies.

I mean, some of them do. Man, what's up with those things that live in your eyelashes? Mites. Yeah, yeah.

You just don't think about them. That's the best way to look. I guess that's the same way with everything that's like growling all over your body. That's right.

You know, your skin has like a microbiome. All of it does. All of it is just you. OK, we'll skip it back to here.

Fingerprint it back to here, that looks like your body. Cool. You want some? What color are you guys, man?

Mine or green? Mine or green, slash hazel sometimes. Yeah, I would say green. Yeah.

I don't even really know what hazel means. It's kind of a greenish brown. We have like green, some brown streaking through it. It's almost like the eye version of khaki.

Between brown? Yeah. Yeah, khaki just means it does color by the way. Does it?

Yeah. I prefer septo. So septo, you can see the CPA. I'm fine with language.

Yeah. Good thing we have a podcast. I hate people that want to argue with people over the color of things. Oh, well, yeah.

I mean, it's like whether that's khaki that's brown. Oh, I thought you meant like when some point. You don't know khaki means just shouldn't. My wife would call our color green.

Right. Or blue, whereas I would call it green, or vice versa. Right. It's like a blueish green.

So we're both right, but apparently I'm wrong. So hold on, you're always wrong. I know. But if we're fighting about, don't give up.

But apparently we're all behind you. Some women come with a bitch gene genetic. I believe that in genetic. I'm not deficiency.

They're the opposite of deficiency. They actually have extra cones in their eyes that allow them to see up to 100 million colors instead of like the average human seeing 10 million colors. Whoa, I didn't know there's that much more. They can see 10 times more?

Yeah, it's like ridiculously large amount more. So the human eye can see 10 million colors. I believe those are the numbers I looked at. If anybody's paying attention any longer.

Does it completely disjoint a podcast? No, but so basically between shades of gray are green, let's say. Right. Like they would be able to tell the difference between like something that mean you'd like to know that's the same color.

Like no, that one's obviously darker than that one. Yeah, that is kind of weird. But like I don't understand what the purpose of that is. So they can pick out outfits better.

Oh, obviously. Obviously. Look at that lady in that dress. No, I'm curious.

You were in the same color. No, I'm not. So I'm probably going to maybe get a couple emails about this, but I'm curious if women can see more color than men and I'm a believer, don't get me wrong. If some people are predisposed to, you know, like men and they are also men, I wonder because a lot of homosexuals are also great dressers and also great designers.

I wonder, it's called fashion. I know it's called fashion. We neither one of us have fashion sense, but I'm curious because I wonder if some of those genetics are a line up. I think it's not like something it's like a female.

I think it's, yeah, I see what we're saying, but I don't think seeing color has a. By and large women are genetically predisposed to like men. You see what I'm saying? Maybe, maybe something society teaches them.

I don't know. Seems like a reach to me to put labels on all the stuff down. I just think it's interesting. Yeah, there's certain people that can see 10 times the number of colors I can see.

Yeah. But really like what is the, it's no benefit to seeing. If you're putting one of your games in colorblind mode, it sucks. Does it?

You never tried it? Yeah, but that's just taking away more colors. I'm saying like it's a difference between like 4k resolution and I guess 40k. Yeah, that'd be a big difference.

Yeah, yeah. 10 times the colors. Yeah. I thought you were going to tell me that women could see like 50 more colors.

I'd be like, all right, that's all they did. No, they can see I think up to 100 million colors. Holy shit. Because they have all these extra cones in their eyes that detect color, I guess what the cones do.

Yeah. So there's a couple of different things. Rods and cones, right? Everybody has heard that at some point in their life, whether it's like some video made in the 50s, which I watched in preparation for the show by the way.

And it's on YouTube somewhere. There's an old ass like, how vision works. Like a group. Yeah, it's all like an old film projector.

Pretty good actually. So cones are what see variations of color. Your rods are basically low light or what you'd consider night vision. So believe it or not, you're actually blending the two.

Blending the two but also seeing like a different version of the same wavelength. It's basically how they took Wizard of Oz and Tented Color it. That's what your eyes are doing to the cones do for your rods, right? A little bit.

It's low light. It's basically like a different sensor. Really? Yeah.

Like for really high end cameras, you have to have like a high end chip that can pick up low level light and make sense of that. So that's kind of what your rods are. And it makes sense they're called rods versus cones. Rods being longer and thinner, probably the light gets trapped in there versus cones.

It's kind of more of a broad vision. Exactly. So that's why they tell you to not watch television in the dark because it fucks with your eyesight. So your low light rods are getting confused with the cones because they're not supposed to work at the same time.

Oh, gotcha. One's supposed to come into effect while the other one doesn't. It's supposed to kind of slide into the light by fire at night. Right.

Hunting for animals. The other one's like daytime lookout for animals. Yeah. If you want to put it in your brain that way.

That's how I do it. That's how I do it. So the cones are actually separated into like three groups and they see different wavelengths of light. So light is just photons, right?

Yep. They're just light particles. And light particles vibrate at different levels. They resonate.

They're different. Yeah. They're way different. Also, are we going to talk about color?

We might as well. I mean, part of vision. I think it's do its fair share. So what happens then is the chemical composition of what the photons hit is what produces the color.

So this is my electric eel thing that I've always known and has always fucked with me but I just kind of accepted after a while. It's not thinking about it. Color doesn't exist. Yeah.

I mean, let that sink in for a second. Color's not real. Color's not real. How slow the light is reflected off of the object.

It's whatever is chemically composed of in the object is how it refracts back to you. And that's what you see. And your brain decided to separate that into different colors because it's of benefit to you. Well, you know, with acrylic paint and stuff, they have different qualities.

The higher quality paints have more particles. Because that's all it is. It's just particles that reflect light. Like that's what paint is.

Personally, I mean, that's all it is. This is what paint is. Yeah, pigment. Yeah, pigment.

Just these little particles that reflect light, the finer the pigment, the better the paint is. Like, as you're painting, I'm spreading particles on this paper. Like, it's just the way you think about color. It certainly is not.

You don't think a marker is like liquid pigment? I don't know. It's just weird. It's just a couple of things that are weird to me about that.

So part of the reason they figured out televisions were because of human eyes. Because the cones and the shape of the old school televisions. Yeah, because the three cones, like you can just call them A, B and C if you want, or you could call them R, G and B. Because that's what your fucking eyes are doing.
