Are you grateful for change, or does it scare the hell out of you? Do you embrace change, or do you wish it just didn't happen? Are you one of those people who say, I wish it was like it used to be? I'm not.

Or are you one of those people like me who kind of remember the way things used to be, and really, really enjoy them and wish that I could replicate aspects of it? I don't know. Let's talk about the gratitude of change today, shall we? I know.

Good morning, American. It's Friday. Thank you, Paul Harvey. And yes, it is Friday.

Oh, man, embracing change, even when it's frightening. You know what it does? It opens doors for us. As much as sometimes I just hate the whole concept of it, like, oh, I'll give you an example.

I'm one of those bloom where you are planting kind of people. I have lived in the house that I'm in right now, this month. What's the date? Oh, today, as of today, I have lived in this house for 18 years.

This is the longest I've ever lived in any house. I have absolutely no thoughts whatsoever at all of changing that. I intend to live here until I croak. So I've lived, like I say, I've lived a lot of places, but this is the longest I've ever lived in any one house ever, and I'm happy with that.

So that's good. And if an opportunity came up for me to move, I mean, I don't intend to, but if an opportunity came up that I really liked, like if some property down in Southwest Florida suddenly became available, my favorite ex-wife and I traveled down there once in a while, and we looked at pieces of property and we almost bought one, and now we're mad that we didn't. But if something like that was to come of it, would I move? I might.

I have gratefulness for change that allows me to see that things can be stepping stones. We could become a better version of ourselves every time we change, even if it's just a little bit, even if it's just a little tiny bit. And I remember those little, tiny changes that have happened in all of our lives that have moved mountains later. Okay?

It helps me, you know, it changed. It helps me to shift my perspective from being afraid to being able to adapt. Okay? And it, you know, it makes me enjoy the curiosity of things.

Even scary change can bring about a positive transformation. Like my last divorce, scary. I had three kids with that woman. I adopted two of hers and her and I had one.

The one that her and I had is living in a house with me right now. As a matter of fact, as soon as we divorced, he moved into the house with me. And now he's an adult, but he just moved back here with his girlfriend. I love that, by the way.

But yeah, that divorce, that was a scary change. But I embraced it. It allows me to, or you know what it did? It allowed me to realize that the journey is not just the destination.

It's the journey. Steve Jobs said that. He said, Steve Jobs said, the journey is the reward and the journey requires a lot of change. If you embrace your change with gratitude, you're just going to get a new mindset.

You're going to continuously learn about self improvement. If you will take the time to embrace change. I have a friend, a couple that I've known for damn near 50 years. They, no, they hate change.

They had a television. They had, I remember they bought a big screen television in the 80s. They wore that thing out. You could barely see it, but she was emotionally attached to it.

And the thought of buying a new TV and making that much change in her life was horrifying. Finally, the last one of the tubes in the thing broke. They had to buy a new TV. It was so difficult for them, but they got the new TV and immediately started complaining because it was a flat panel TV and it was brighter than the old TV.

They didn't know what to do about that. So, you know, change sometimes is hard for people. But you know what, they watch that TV. So even though they didn't like the idea of the change, they did finally embrace it.

And if you recognize the value of change, you're going to want to take bold steps. I almost never take bold steps. I take tiny steps, but you know something? I take tiny steps, which is better than taking those steps.

You know, everybody talks about using massive action. I'm one of those people who take little actions and watch them add up, but I'm taking actions all the time. And that helps. And my music came on wrong.

Am I going to edit that? No. I'm just going to play it out. It started in the middle when I pushed the button.

It did. No. Yes. It absolutely did.

I know. I know. I know. Hey, have a great week.

We will see you on Monday. Well, all kinds of new and fun things.
