The Great Divide Social Ride

Val and Faith are joined in the studio by Gayle Ilievski and we settle in to listen to Val's reading from Tom Babin's Frostbike: the Joy, Pain and Numbness of Winter Cycling. We then share our bike moments where Val has tyre issues, Gayle is glad she has moved to the country and Faith decides to nominate for the Bicycle Network Board elections. We take a look at some news including Jesse Carlsson's Race to the Rock win, the John St trial road closure on the Brunswick East shimmy and new line markings on Napier Street, Fitzroy. Talk turns to bikepacking, glamping and opportunities to test the bikepacking waters, or take along bikepacking curious friends and Gayle fills us in on her collaboration with Woodend riders to produce the Great Divide Social Ride. The GDSR gives riders the opportunity to enjoy gravel roads and single track with the support of gear transfers, sag wagons, catering, showers, films for the evening and a bar and lots and lots of friends.
