THE GREAT OUTDOORS: Public hearing on deer moved to Feb. 24

There will be a public hearing on firearms use during deer season at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. The event will take place in the Pipestone County Courthouse Commissioners Room. The event was originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3; but, it was moved because of caucuses that day. The statewide shotgun zone was repealed as of Jan. 1, 2026. Effective that date, counties may adopt their own ordinances that restrict certain firearms during the deer hunting season.
