The Greatest Victory

Pastor Jamie continues our "Seven Sayings From The Cross" series this week. τετέλεσταιTetelestai: "It is finished"It can be really satisfying to finish something you've been working on. It's probably pretty rare to look back and think all your work went perfectly. Nothing could have gone better, there's no room for improvement or additions. This is what Jesus means though when he says it is finished. He knew humanity couldn't earn its way into heaven so he carried out a perfect plan:He took human form while somehow remaining GodHe lived a perfectly obedient life despite feeling every human temptationHe delivered himself into the hands of those he knew would condemn himHe accepted the false charges against him just as he accepted our sin which he had no part inHe allowed himself to die to take the punishment that we are all owedHe looked to the Father throughout all of this and for his faith he was risen from deathHe ascended and took his seat next to the Father because his work is finished. It is finished.Believe that this is what he did for you. Obey his teachings because he knows better than we do. Worship him in celebration of all he has done. Find others to share this with, whether they've heard it before or not. We all need to be reminded of what has been done, and that it is finished.
