The Greek Hermes
from Hermetic Tradition: Osiris to Franklin Hosted by Roger Weir
In this presentation, Roger examines the fusion of the Egyptian soul and the Greek mind in the Hermetic tradition and how that union transformed the ancient world. Tracing the archetypal structure shaped by Homer—through figures like Hermes, Apollo, and Dionysus—he shows how classical balance collapsed into a new era of personal religion focused on the salvation of the individual soul. With the emergence of Hermes Trismegistus and the rise of Gnostic and Christian consciousness, transcendence through ecstasy, terror, and wisdom reshaped Western civilization, marking a spiritual revolution whose psychological consequences still define us today.
