The Guarantor and the Promises of God - Genesis 14 By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda How do we respond to life’s challenges?  Do we need to face them or instinctively just run from them?  While we may never want challenges in life, running from them might forfeit us of some of life’s most wonderful blessings.   After learning of the capture of his nephew, Lot, Abraham acted in faith, fought with kings, restored possessions, and rescued Lot. All of a sudden, Abraham was beginning to rise in power in the land of Canaan as a partial fulfillment of God’s promises. The climax of the narrative was not the victory itself though, but Abraham’s meeting with Melchizedek.  Far from what appeared to be an insertion into the narrative of Genesis, our study of Genesis 14 will excite us about how God will use life’s situations not only to bring us deeper into His promises but also point us to the guarantor of all His promises, the Lord Jesus Christ.
