The Gulf Under Fire

Iran Bombards US Military Target in Kuwait With Missiles and Drones as Gulf War Escalates Iran has launched missiles and attack drones towards a military base in Kuwait used by US forces, opening another dangerous front in the expanding confrontation between Tehran and Washington. Kuwait activated its air defences as incoming Iranian weapons approached the country, while Iran said its intended target was Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base. The attack matters far beyond the fate of one military installation. Iran is demonstrating that American forces stationed across the Gulf can be threatened directly, while Kuwait and other US partners are increasingly being pulled into a conflict they have little ability to isolate themselves from.
