Manny Midman is the saddest of sad sacks: living in the basement of Our Lady of Blessed Austerity Orphanage, working four jobs, and caring for his deaf and blind terrier Nippers. Manny should be miserable, but isn't -- because he loves boxing. He's terrible at it; but he loves it. When the Mob shows up to buy the orphanage and turn it into a nightclub, it's up to Manny to save the day by entering a boxing tournament -- with the help of an unconventional coach, he learns the real secret to success in boxing is having the saddest life story!
