The Hard Thing About Hard Things with Jade Green & Kyle Probert

from Team Engineered Podcast

In this episode, we share our take on the hard thing about hard things and how we agree with a million nuggets that Ben Horowitz's talks about in his book, stating that indeed, "they should be hard things and because they're worth it."Key points covered in this episode:[00:03:48] Completing the 6 Weeks Solid was a challenge of self-leadership. This is highly helpful even if you're not the leader of an actual team, you're just you're leading your own company, or it's just a company of one. It's all about how you conduct yourself to build these habits, step yourself up in terms of performance, get yourself back on track, and step into who you want to be or who you need to be to achieve the success you wish to have.[00:05:10] As a leader, we often forget that we don't necessarily have all the right answers, and often we're the one that's getting in the way. [00:07:44] Be able to perform at your best even when you are at your worst. [00:09:57] Getting comfortable, doing the uncomfortable can be done in so many other ways. [00:13:01] Hard things become easier when you still know you're doing the right thing in a bad situation.  [00:17:46] If you have to let someone go, it's you and the company that's let them down. [00:20:25] As the leader, you have to make hard decisions every day. [00:23:50] The COVID fatigue is a real, real thing and our current constant. [00:32:09] Everyone wants some structure and some consistency that creates security. [00:35:57] We know that discipline equals freedom. [00:39:00] The need for a peacetime and wartime CEO. Which one of those leaders needs to come to the forefront? Both are at the opposite ends of the profile spectrum, the other is a star supporter, and the other puts the fire under people to blaze on and send them out like you need to do. [00:44:48] Often, when we're creating the mission or the vision, we talk about: What do we stand for? and what do we stand against? "Standing for" is a really powerful, positive message. While "standing against" takes a negative concept and tries to turn it into a positive. [00:49:45]  The concept of having positive messaging in all of that culture stuff is super important. __________________________________________________________________________________ABOUT TEAM: ENGINEEREDTeam: Engineered is your go-to podcast for all things team building and business scaling.
