🎙️ THE HARLEM HELLFIGHTERS

They were asked to fight for freedom overseas while still fighting for equality at home. In this powerful Lou J Media Network audio story, Lou J takes you deep into the incredible story of the Harlem Hellfighters — the 369th Infantry Regiment, one of the most famous Black military units of World War I. This isn’t just a story about war. It’s about men who faced racism, segregation, bullets, artillery, poison gas, fear and death—and still refused to let anyone decide what they were capable of. You’ll hear the stories behind Henry Johnson, whose brutal fight against a German raiding party eventually earned him the Medal of Honor; Needham Roberts, the wounded soldier Johnson fought to protect; James Reese Europe, the groundbreaking bandleader who carried Black American music across France; Noble Sissle, who went from military service to helping change Broadway; and the men of the 369th who built a legacy far greater than the battlefield. You’ll also hear how these soldiers trained in a segregated America, crossed the Atlantic, fought alongside French forces, endured months near the front lines, returned to a massive homecoming in Harlem—and discovered that surviving the war did not end their fight for dignity and equality. Two wars. One uniform. One legacy. This is more than military history. This is Black history. This is American history. This is a story that deserves to be remembered. 🎧 Listen on: 🍎 Apple Podcasts 🟢 Spotify ❤️ iHeartRadio 🎵 Amazon Music 🎧 Audible 🎙️ LET’S TALK ABOUT IT WITH LOU J LOU J MEDIA NETWORK LLC #HarlemHellfighters #369thInfantry #BlackHistory #BlackMilitaryHistory #WorldWarOne #WWI #HenryJohnson #JamesReeseEurope #NeedhamRoberts #NobleSissle #MilitaryHistory #AmericanHistory #BlackHistoryBeyondTheBooks #HistoryPodcast #AudioStory #LetsTalkAboutItWithLouJ #LouJMediaNetwork
