The Hawk

Originally Aired: November 25, 1938The Lone Ranger #910, "The Hawk," a ruthless outlaw leader known as The Hawk crosses the border with his army of cutthroats, and the entire territory braces for bloodshed. When word spreads that The Hawk is heading toward the town of Dover, Major Wilson mobilizes nearly five hundred soldiers from the fort at Preston. Railroad engineer Matt Badger and his fireman Herb are pressed into emergency service to transport the troops by train into the mountains, despite Matt's wife Bess's fears about the dangerous journey. However, minutes after departing, masked bandits swing aboard the locomotive and take control at gunpoint.Back at the fort, a mysterious stranger arrives with startling news for young Lieutenant Rooney: Dover is a decoy. The Hawk's real target is the now-defenseless fort itself, where he plans to raid the arsenal for arms and ammunition. The stranger reveals that two of The Hawk's advance men have already infiltrated Preston and boarded the very train carrying Major Wilson and his troops, setting a deadly trap in motion. As Lieutenant Rooney realizes the soldiers are racing toward an ambush while leaving the fort vulnerable, time runs out to warn them.
