Summary
Can you feel it? The pain. That insurmountable brokenness in our world? The Shame, fear, guilt, lies, disunity, strife, and death that surrounds us? Do you hold onto a hope for healing in our world, and your heart, soul, mind, and strength? Unlike our world of products, vacations, and infomercials that promise to fix our lives with miracle remedies, Jesus bursts into Capernaum as our one true healer. He amazed by teaching with authority, and restored their infirmities. In Mark 1:21 -28 and 2:1-12 Jesus healed a man possessed by a demon and the sins and legs of a paralyzed man. These miraculous signs of God's love show that he desires to heal us holistically from the inside out, either now or when all things are made new in "the age to come". They also invite us to make disciples by bringing our friends to The Healer (as the friends of the paralytic did with faith), that they may also be restored in His love and grace. Journey with us through these two stories and a closer look at Jesus, The healer. We will also be looking at an incredible story of healing in today's word, thru the eulogy given by NBA assistant coach Monty Williams, at his wife's wake on Feb 18, 2016.
