Good oral health is about more than just brushing and flossing your teeth! Dental disease is 100 % preventable and it starts at home with you! Yes Cavities are a disease and not something our children just get. Your mouth is a window into your body and it has an effect on speech, breathing, chewing, heart health and so much more. This is the healthy mouth movement podcast my name is Sheree Wertz. I am a dental hygienist and I have been in the dental field for over thirty years. I had high fevers as a child and was given medicine that stained my teeth. Kids bullied me and made fun of me. Asking if I knew how to brush my teeth. It not only affected my self esteem it made me very self conscious about my smile. So I did not smile much as a kid. People were always asking me what was wrong. I just did not want to open my mouth because I did not want to be made fun of. I do not want another kid to feel like I did. Smiling is important to our health. It releases feel-good neurotransmitters—in our brain dopamine, and serotonin—are released when a smile flashes across your face; it not only relaxes your body, increases your mood but it can also lower your heart rate and blood pressure. Come along with me on this journey to give you a whole new perspective of the importance of taking care of your mouth and the long term effects it has not only on your oral health but also on your overall systemic health. On This podcast we will bring a mixture of Professionals... experts in the field, that will give you advice and action steps you can take. In different situation We will also have Moms Dads and caregivers just like you having some of the same struggles you are. Together we can make a difference and keep our kids healthy.
