Hebrews 2:14-18. So far, the Author has convincingly argued that Jesus is better than the angels––not only as the perfect Son of God, but also as the perfect Son of Man. But buried in this argument we also catch a glimpse of the something the Author will periodically do throughout his letter––namely, as he elevates Jesus, he pulls back the curtain to reveal the loving heart of Jesus for His own. And what is the heart of Jesus like? We learn that it is a heart that is condescending and compassionate toward His own.
