During the roadside stop, a 20-ton truck driven by a fatigued and drug-impaired driver veered into the emergency lane, killing four police officers while Pusey, who was nearby, escaped unharmed. Rather than rendering aid, Pusey sparked national outrage by filming the dying officers while making derogatory remarks, leading to a rare criminal conviction for outraging public decency.
