"The Heavenly Christmas Tree" follows a nameless six-year-old boy who wakes alone in a frozen cellar on Christmas Eve, beside his mother's cold body, with no food and no refuge. Driven by hunger onto the glittering, indifferent streets of a winter city, he presses his face against shop windows filled with warmth and light he cannot enter.
